My sister and I were born in the Wedemeyer Hospital in 1947 in Taylor, Texas. Hospital was closed in 1957 and became a retirement home. Read the State Historical Marker. It was torn down in the 2000's.

I, Glynda Janell Nygrin Reed started working at IBM in the 80's. I worked there for approximately 18 years. That was such a fun and wonderful job. The manufacturing division closed down and was sold to Solectron (the company that originally bought out Texas Instruments). We worked there (at the old Texas Instrument plant) for approximately 3 years, and then we were all layed off. At the IBM location all the buildings were torn down, now a huge mall has been built. After Solectron, after 3 months, I started working for the State, was there over 10 years, then retired.
At IBM, in 1996, I won a trip to Orlando, Florida. We were there a week for work activities and visits to Walt Disney World. I was chosen as one of the 2 winners on the first shift. Because of IBM, I made my 2 plane trips of my life so far. The other plane trip, was when IBM flew a few of us to Raleigh, North Carolina to work on the manufacturing line 'testing our Austin plant line returns'.
